Ananda Pagoda Festival (Means of Pagoda Name)
The name of Ananda is not Myanmar language it is derived from original Pali words
"A- Nanda", and it refer to "The Endless Wisdom Of Buddha". So that the name represent the sacred wisdom of Buddha.
Date of built
It was built in 1090 AD, during the time of Great King Kyan Sittha.

Character of festival
There is a month long sanctified festival for the temple Ananda; it is usually fall on January every year. The busiest day of the
Festival on the full moon day of the lunar month. Villagers and pilgrims around Bagan roll in the sacred site of Ananda for the consecration.
This is also the best time to see not only the ritual of Buddhist but also the festival is also meant for social gathering, reunification, propagation, and perpetuation of the religion that is Buddhism. During the festival, walk around in sea of vendors and shops that sell traditional Myanmar food-staff and enjoy the local atmosphere in locality.

Most Popular Event in Festival
The most popular event of the festival is "Aneint Pwe" or Myanmar traditional Opera show and dance show with clown. By going around to the whole area of festival, you'll see the roll of Myanmar's Bullock Cart and their people who resided in the space of Pagoda's precinct. At noontime, they stay at their bullock cart cook their meals, beautify themselves and at evening they going around and enjoy in activities, or it prepare their goods to sell at nighttime. They all do their things at their own bullock cart until after the festival.
Play things, made by bamboo, rattan, clay, and bamboo tray, palm leaf box, brass balance, puppets, pairs of owl, and brooms are unforgettable scene for all visitors.

Kachin New Year Festivals
If we say about Kachin New Year festival, we should not miss to tell you about Kachin Manaw Festival. Manaw is the most remarkable event as well as a unique holy tradition in Kachin State. Manaw festival to celebrate the New Year is the one you should not miss. It is held in Myit Kyina, the capital of Kachin state on / around 10th January every year and it's only for one day.
Every adult can participate the Manaw and you are no exception, of course! Dancing with the rhythmic beat of the ceremonial gong, dressing in their colorful ceremonial attire, moving anti-clockwise in a big circle to the beat of the gong, weaving ceremonial sword by men and handkerchief by women, your transient experience with Manaw will remain with you for along time to come. Come and have a glimpse of the Manaw and the Kachins'.

What are Manaw?
Manaw is the Kachin traditional dance, which are held in their relevant emotion. Their aim and their purpose of holding Manaw festival are as follow.

Padan Manaw
It is held for the occasion of overcoming to all dangers / Victory Ceremony.

Soot Manaw
It was held for fellowship party gathering party or reunification party between each other. So that it is the festival of social activities.

Juu Manaw
It was held when one is feeling unwell or one of their elder was died. So it is for memorial festivals for their departed relatives.

Kwan Yan Manaw
Held for sharing the power of their great spirit or shift the spirit's shrine when one of their relative separate from their main compound.

Sha Dicphawt Manaw
It is held to show their new land to their great spirit and chase the dangers and bad spirit from that land by power of Spirit.
The festival is specially held not only for the consecration of Madine Spirit, but also for the social activities and economic affairs.
As the first preparation of the festivals, the 4 Manaw poles have to be set at the ground of their village master's compound. And have to adorn and decorate by their traditional arts technique. The dance is imitated by the dance of birds so that they must hold fan or shawl in their hands.
They have to maintain the Manaw poles until after one year of the festivals, because they can build their spirit shrine by those poles later.
Most foreigner who have been seen the Manaw festivals recommended that it is very likely to the dance of
Red Indians who live in America. Most of the foreigner use to go and study the festivals in every January for the occasion of harvest festivals and New Year festivals.

Before I tell you about the Naga New Year festival, I would like to introduce you with our dearly brothers and sisters / Naga people who live in Chin Hill. They are sub major ethnic group of Myanmar and famous among other people for their marvelous character their tradition and customs.
In Myanmar there are many kinds of Naga people, but we describe some of their character, which are very common.
Some facts may be different from your knowledge, but they depend on their location, and their clan. The Nagas are not a composite people. They speak many languages. There are 49 sub-groups differentiated by their spoken language.

Appearance
All men and women are very stout and sub-medium height, the facial index is very low, the nasal index corresponds to a medium nose, the hair is generally straight, the skin is brownish yellow. They differ widely in dress and other cultural traits, as well as in physical features. They belong to Tibeto-Burma group but yet there are great differences in the details between one tribe and other, as well as between different people of the same tribe. Some are tall, some are short. Some are yellow in complexion and some are even brown.

Adornment
Men use to tattoo on their chin and jaw, and use turban woven by rattan and decorate with feather, and human hair. Cover their body with blanket, which is dying with red and white colors. Their belt is made by coins, feather, boar tusks and human hair to hang their Knife. Ladies use to adorn bracelets, and beads. Some Naga generally wear no upper garment, but the small piece of garments and copper circular gong to cover their genes. The Naga costumes must be among the most colorful in the country. Feathers, fangs, teeth, brass, beads, intricate weaving; they wear everything in every color. The females tattoo their foreheads and chins.

Place where they live
They live in western site of Myanmar share the border with India. Thus some of Naga people also live in India. They live mostly around the Patkoi Ranges and on the western hills of the Chindwin River's sources. North-western Myanmar is 4,313 ft above sea level and 25• 40' north latitude.

Literature
They have not their own literature, but language. Then may different depend on location.

Religion
Spiritcism, animism and sacrifice to spirit each month of a year. Wealth men sacrifice Bull or Ox, poor men sacrifice pig and other.

Seasonal festival
New Year festival, they call "Khi Bi" and other spirit festivals are their outstanding ceremonies. All festivals are lead by there.

Occupation
Dry land cultivation and hunting. Some people dive into the river bottom without any equipment. Their life is really hard! Some people are finding the ship wreckage, which were sunk during the World War II.

Each village has their own Head Man and they must be stout, brave, and expert in martial art.

According to the custom, girls have to visit to Boys room. Generally, marriage in the same clan is prohibited but nowadays-modern educated young men and women are often violating it.

Unforgettable Festival
"Naga" biggest festival is New Year Festival of January 15th, call "Khine Bi" and organized by Naga festival committee who choose each year's festival location and details under the control of central government. All "Naga" tribes send a few delegation to this occasion thus it is the perfect opportunity to see variety of different "Naga" people at once. There is no cast system among the Nagas or anyone of the non-Naga tribes.
The special event of the festival is bonfire festival , which is held as special occasion for New Year. The season was very cold but it was transcending with beauty. Hundreds of foreigners are gazed and they eagerly want to see how people will celebrate their New Year festival.
Bon fire festival is held at the center of the ground, and the bonfire is lit. Start their festival with dance and their dance is very attractive as they take turns systematically to dance round the bonfire , they are singing happily their traditional songs. Their dance are rhythmic and lively. Spectators are enthralled to join the dance. Rice wine is a plenty at the dance Bison and boar meat and fish are special for New year dinner, Sharing of rice wine is the sealing of good will between friends and strangers alike. After all, the festival itself is celebrated to bring friendship, unity and amity.
"Naga" national traditions, including the bonfire dance, are preserved through the tests of time. It is a rare opportunity to observe ancient traditions unspoiled.
