April! A season of Giving

These April days, there is music in the air; wherever you go , you'll see pandals by the road side. Inside them are yellow robes black alms bowls umbrellas and leather slippers and laid out amidst flowers and colour paper streamers Right at the entrance a notice board announces that a mass no vitiation ceremony is to be held during the water festival.
         Such pandals are centre of activities during the water festival, each pandals are organized either by the people of the locality or by those who are in the same profession like stall keepers at a market trishaw men, taxi drivers, and bus men.
         However, with the Burmese love of fun and music such an occasion is rarely allowed to go without the trimmings of music dance and processions Of course people like to give alms food to monks to mark the event that, in fact, is optional.
However, April! This is Myanmar heart and soul.

What dose Thin Gyan Mean?
○The Myanmar New Year Festival called Thin Gyan is the merriest festival of the year.
○Thin Gyan means change from the old year to New Year.
○Although it is a religious festival basically it's main features is water throwing.
○Also Thin Gyan is the festival for the special offering to Buddhist monks.
○Finally it is the season of giving alms to monks giving respects to parent teachers and elders.
○Poorest people will do their good deeds fetching water for old people to bathe and shampoo. such are the deeds of the April season.

How Myanmar people enjoy in Water Festival?
Many young people are busy rehearsing their songs, music, dancing, skits, and Thin Gyan   or rhymed couplets. They start water throwing one day before the festival actually begins. Whenever one goes in the city of Yang on, one runs into processions of cars forming a part of various fantastic creation. Water throwing and prize giving pandals appear here and there.
           Some people even youth have not fancy to participate in water throwing so that they go to Monastery to keep Sabbath, to make good deeds, and practicing Meditation. Some enjoy in water festival but for about "2" days and other "2" days are for keeping Sabbath, making good deeds, and practicing Meditation.
Another high light event are giving freedom to birds, fishes, and fetching water for old people to bathe and shampooing. People collect birds and fishes from sellers one day in advance of the festival and they give freedom them at last day of festival.

The most interested thing of Thin Gyan
It is a pot but we call (A-Tah Pot). A new earthen pot of about four to six inches in diameter especially made for Tha Gyar Minn (King of Celestial Above). It is filled with clear cool and scented water and it place in the front of the house. Springs of seven kinds of flora representing seven days of week such as Ohn Let (Coconut palm leaves),Gantgaw (Iron Wood), Khayay(star flower tree), Sein Ban (gold mohur tree), Ywet Hla( Croton)Myay Zer (Couch grass) Thi (wood apple tree)or than (Terminalia Oliveri Brandis)are arranged in order in the Ahta pot Springs of Tha Byay (Eugenia) are also added because Tha byay like Laural is the symbol of Victory. Actually it is the sign of cool ,peace ,and welcoming to King of celestial being above.
